Meet Dr. Elder

Epilepsy and Sleep
Christopher Elder, MD is an assistant professor of neurology at CUMC, in the Division of Epilepsy and Sleep. Dr. Elder completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware then attained his MD from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his intern year at Georgetown University Hospital followed by residency at NYU Langone Medical Center, where he was a chief resident. He completed fellowship in Neurophysiology/Epilepsy at UCLA Seizure Disorder Center. Dr. Elder’s research interests include neurostimulation and the microbiome/gut-brain axis in epilepsy.

Meet Dr. Frolov

Aging and Dementia and Multispecialty Neurology
Alexander Frolov, MD is an assistant professor of neurology at CUMC, in the Divisions of Multispecialty Neurology and Aging and Dementia. Dr. Frolov received a BS in biology and BA in philosophy from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He attained his MD from the McGovern Medical School in Houston, where he remained for his intern year. Dr. Frolov spent his PGY-2 year of neurology residency at the University of Colorado, before transferring to the Bay Area to be with his wife, finishing his residency at Stanford University. He remained at Stanford for a clinical fellowship in behavioral neurology. Dr. Frolov has an interest in Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers, medical education, neuroethics, and medical humanities.

Meet Dr. Miranda

Multispecialty Neurology 
Caroline Miranda, MD is an assistant professor of neurology at CUMC, in the Division of Multispecialty Neurology. Dr. Miranda received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed residency training in Neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and subsequently completed fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology here at Columbia. Dr. Miranda’s clinical interests include neurophysiology, electromyography, general neurology, peripheral neuropathy, and neuromuscular disease.

Meet Dr. Paolucci

Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease
Ugo Paolucci, MD is an assistant professor of neurology at CUMC in the Division of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease. After medical school at the University of Bologna, Dr. Paolucci completed neurology residency at New York Medical College, followed by fellowship training in Vascular Neurology at Rutgers University and Seton Hall University. Prior to joining Columbia, he was on the faculty at Rutgers-RWJMS and an attending in the Hackensack Meridian Health System. Dr. Paolucci’s clinical interests include acute stroke care and emergency neurology, and his research interests focus on improving stroke outcomes. Dr. Paolucci now directs the stroke program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital.
