About Us
In 2013, the Columbia Translational Neuroscience Initiative was established as an umbrella organization to coordinate, facilitate and represent the activities of Columbia’s Uptown neuroscience and disease-focused centers. Columbia Uptown has unparalleled critical mass in these areas – CTNI will enhance basic and translational neuroscience research, ensuring that resources and information be utilized as effectively as possible.
Mission Statement:
To unite Columbia’s community of Uptown neuroscientists and integrate it with the full range of resources of Columbia University to form a preeminent collaborative union that can readily translate scientific research into useful clinical applications.
Goals:
- To develop new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for disorders of the nervous system.
- To construct a translational continuum on the uptown campus from basic neuroscience to human studies and back, founded on academic rigor, new collaborative structures and dedicated funding.
- To be a leading actor in the emerging strategy of Columbia Neuroscience across the University.
