Overview

Dr. Wang is a computational biologist with a background in genetics, statistics, bioinformatics and neurological sciences. He received his training at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing Institute of Genomics, 2009), Baylor College of Medicine (2014) and the University of Chicago (2020). His current research focuses on understanding the pathogenesis and functional genomic regulations of neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis, through the integration of large-scale multi-omics and phenotypic data of human cells and tissues in diverse populations. He is particularly interested in developing and applying new computational techniques to tackle significant research problems in his field. His work on computational methods includes multi-variate regression analysis, statistical fine-mapping and colocalization in association studies, rare variant linkage and association studies, and disease subtyping. He also uses statistical analysis of molecular quantitative trait loci (QTL) to create a detailed picture of the functional genomic regulation landscape in the brain and central nervous system, and employs computational discovery of novel regulatory genomics mechanisms and the ancestry-specific regulation of functional genomic features to better understand disease etiology.
