Visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Visiting post-doctoral neurocritical care research fellowship positions are available for U.S. or international medical school or PhD graduates, with varying levels of post-doctoral clinical training, who wish to focus exclusively on patient-oriented clinical research. Primary mentoring will be provided by a specific faculty member according to the particular research interests of the fellow. Opportunities exist to conduct novel independent research related to advanced intracranial monitoring (LICOX, CBF, microdialysis), continuous EEG monitoring, advanced MRI imaging, therapeutic temperature modulation, noninvasive cardiovascular monitoring, and other topics. Opportunities also exist to obtain training in epidemiology or biostatistics, or to participate in bench research in the cerebrovascular laboratory of the Department of Neurosurgery (Dr. E. Sander Connolly).

Requirements and Eligibility

Visiting postdoctoral research fellowship positions are available only to individuals who possess an MD or PhD degree and have been able to secure independent funding for salary support. Opportunities exist for prospective applicants to work closely with Columbia University faculty to develop grant applications to hospital, foundation, or government funding agencies.
