We are pleased to announce that all three Columbia Neurology stroke programs—the Columbia Comprehensive Stroke Center at NYP/CUIMC (led by Drs. Randolph Marshall, Olajide Williams, and team), and the Stroke Centers at NYP/Allen and NYP/Lawrence Hospitals (led by Dr. Laura Lennihan, with Drs. Jason Diamond and Igor Zilberman, respectively)—received American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Target: Honor Roll Elite Plus Gold Plus Quality Awards this year! This trifecta of achievement demonstrates the exceptional commitment to quality made by NYP and our stroke faculty, and to their ability to work as a team that is dedicated to improving quality patient care and patient outcomes. The “Elite Plus” status recognizes hospitals for achieving Thrombolytic Therapy times of ≤ 60 minutes in 75%, and ≤ 45 minutes in 50% or more of applicable acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IV tPA. The “Gold Plus” status is achieved by consistently sustaining 85% or higher adherence to specific evidence based guidelines, and achieving required metrics for optional quality measures for two or more consecutive years.
